On this day, February 12, 1936, the greatest Armenian prose writer of the 20th century, Hrant Matevosyan, was born in the village of Ahnidzor, Lori region.
Matevosyan was telling about the village, the life of the villagers, their hard work. His way of telling was a novelty in Armenian literature. His heroes are people who do not leave their world, their village, suffer all their lives because they believe that a person's first duty is to work and make the world a better place.
