Iran lifted range restrictions on its missiles: IRGC

The spokesperson for the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps announced that restrictions on the range of Iran’s missiles have been lifted, saying the country must demonstrate its expanded capabilities in practice rather than merely make statements, Tasnim reports.

Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi made the remarks on the sidelines of a press conference on Saturday, responding to a question about Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei’s warning to Iran’s enemies against repeating a miscalculation by launching another military attack on the country.

He said Iran possesses numerous means of bringing its enemies to a standstill, adding that the enemy’s material and non-material assets provide opportunities that Tehran can exploit. Describing the confrontation as an asymmetric war, Mohebbi said Iran could strike its adversary at an unexpected point and thereby cripple its capabilities.

Asked whether the recent directive by the Leader for an immediate and effective response to any threat, without geographical restrictions, meant that limits on the range of Iranian missiles had been removed, the IRGC spokesman replied, “This restriction has been lifted for us.”

The general stressed, however, that Iran must demonstrate these capabilities in the field, saying it would be inappropriate to make claims before they are put into practice. “Our duty is to show our capabilities on the battlefield,” he added.
