Armenian artist’s canvas dedicated to Genocide moved to Armenia

“From Century to Century” canvas by Artist Akim Avanesov (from Nakhijevan-on-Don) has been moved to Armenia after remaining in the archive of Rostov-on-Don Museum for 40 years. The canvas painted 100 years ago portrays the calamity of the Armenian Genocide. Getting permission for recovering Avanesov’s distinguished work in Yerevan was protracted almost 2 years.

Head of the Restoration Department of the National Gallery of Armenia Igor Poghosyan said the canvas is in extremely poor state. According to him, Armenian experts will manage to restore the historical painting in a matter of 2 months.
