The National Assembly started discussions of the draft amendments to the Constitutional Law "On Referendum" authored by Vahagn Hovakimyan, a deputy of the "My Step" faction.
The bill provides the possibility of canceling the referendum on the termination of the powers of the present CC chairman Hrayr Tovmasyan and 6 CC members after the end of the state of emergency.
Anna Karapetyan, the Deputy Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, MP of the "My Step" faction, emphasized during the discussion of the bill that the presented document has nothing to do with the Chairman of the Constitutional Court Hrayr Tovmasyan.
Responding to the observation that the Constitution regulates the issue of holding a referendum after the state of emergency, Karapetyan stressed that the Constitution only mentions the holding of parliamentary elections.
