"The Strait of Hormuz is already partially open to shipping and will be fully open soon, in a day or two," US President Donald Trump said during a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France.
Trump also threatened to resume strikes on Iran if he is dissatisfied with the final version of the memorandum of understanding. It is scheduled to be signed in Switzerland on Friday.
Iran has also resumed oil exports by sea after an agreement with the US to end the war. Several Iranian oil tankers have left the US naval blockade.
