Prime Minister attended consecration ceremony of Holy Trinity Church in Kirants

Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and government ministers attended on Saturday the consecration ceremony of the newly restored 19th-century Holy Trinity Church in Kirants, a village in Tavush Province.

The Holy Trinity Church, built in 1888, has been undergoing government-funded renovation since 2023, with the work completed this year.

A video shared online by the prime minister shows Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan and Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Davit Khudatyan, along with local officials and residents, attending the ceremony.

Kirants is a border village in northeastern Armenia, where a section of the international border with Azerbaijan has been successfully delimited.

The church had reached the present day in a severely dilapidated and partially collapsed condition, without a roof. In 2024, restoration works amounting to AMD 21,400,501 were carried out. In particular, previously executed works that deviated from the design were corrected, including the opening and closing of window apertures, improper joint filling, and other issues. The restoration of missing sections up to the cornice level of the structure, as well as the construction of the external retaining wall and floors, were largely completed, along with interior plastering, installation of the wooden ceiling covering, and flooring.

In 2025, restoration works amounting to AMD 32,259,499 were carried out, and at the beginning of 2026, the restoration of the church was completed.

Works included the carving and installation of complex profiled stone frames, cornerstones, and cornices, the construction of a new six-column rotunda, roofing works, as well as interior painting and finishing.
