The judges of the Booker Prize announced that the 2019 award will be shared by Booker – 2000 winner, Canadian novelist Margaret Atwood (for The Testaments) and British author Bernardine Evaristo (for Girl, Woman, Other).
Peter Florence, Chair of the judges confessed that they had not been able to choose one winner within five hours. He called both books “phenomenal that will delight readers and will resonate for ages to come.”
The Booker Prize is one of the most prestigious English-language literature awards. The winner receives £50,000. The first Booker Prize took place in 1969. In 2002, the award was renamed to the Man Booker Prize for sponsorship reasons.
