Azerbaijan should ensure rights and safety of people who want to return to Nagorno-Karabakh: statement by US and EU leaders
US President Joe Biden received the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, as well as the Head of EU Diplomacy, Josep Borrell, at the White House.
According to the closing report of the meeting, the officials also discussed the developments in the South Caucasus.
"The EU and the US are committed to advance a lasting peace in Armenia and Azerbaijan, based on mutual recognition of sovereignty, inviolability of borders and territorial integrity.
In this context, the leaders called on:
- Azerbaijan to ensure the rights and security of those who remain in Nagorno-Karababakh and for those to wish to return to their comes
- all parties to adhere to the principle of non-use of force and threat of use of force," the statement reads.
