EU to provide €25 million to Armenia in assistance, von der Leyen

The European Union will provide more than €25 million in aid to Armenia to address the basic needs of tens of thousands of refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh.

The news was announced by European Commission head Ursula von der Leyen upon her arrival at the European Political Community summit in Granada, Spain.

"We have initially allocated €5.2 million. I will say today to the Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that we are happy to double this amount to €10.2 million. And that we are giving another €15 million of aid for the Armenian budget," she said.

The head of the European Commission said she would hold a meeting with Pashinyan in Granada and discuss support for Armenia.
