How to apply for a US immigrant visa: Embassy publishes steps

Thinking about applying for a U.S. immigrant visa? US Embassy in Yerevan asks. 

Here's where to start!

Step 1 - File a petition with USCIS. 

A U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, employer must first file a petition with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Once approved, your case moves to the next step. uscis.gov

Step 2 - Begin National Visa Center (NVC) processing. 

After USCIS approves the petition, the NVC takes over. Submit all required documents and fees. Your case must be documentarily complete before an interview can be scheduled. 

Step 3 - Interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. 

The NVC will schedule your interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in your country of residence or nationality.  travel.state.gov

Note: USCIS approval does not guarantee a visa, eligibility is determined by a consular officer at your interview.
