Volodymyr Zelenskiy said he had heard the report from the Ukrainian delegates who met with Washington’s team in Miami in recent days. The Ukraine's president of stressed that Kyiv is ready for real decisions and steps toward de-escalation to bring the war closer to an end.
“We supported the idea of an energy ceasefire. Our position is unequivocal: Ukraine is ready to abide by the energy ceasefire announced by the U.S. president if Russia takes corresponding steps,” Zelenskiy stressed, adding that no such trend is currently visible, as Russia has once again struck Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
“If these strikes are Russia’s response to Donald Trump’s statement, then the Russians are missing another opportunity to move closer to peace,” Zelensky noted.
He said that contacts with Washington are continuing and emphasized the importance of putting pressure on Moscow.
Zelensky also spoke with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, thanking him for his solidarity and support. On the agenda were violations of the energy ceasefire announced by Trump and the upcoming meeting of the coalition supporting Ukraine.
