Hungary has lost its right to a billion euros of funding after Budapest failed to tackle corruption, according to the EU authorities in Brussels. This is the first time in history that Brussels has enforced such a move, DW reports.
Previously, the EU pressured the country to change its laws in order to tackle conflicts of interest and corruption.
Budapest had been told it must make reforms by the end of 2024 or they would expire.
