Saudi Arabia introduced changes to proposals made by Iran and Oman regarding Strait of Hormuz

Saudi Arabia has made adjustments to Iran and Oman’s proposals regarding their agreement on the Strait of Hormuz, Axios journalist Barak Ravid reports.

“A Gulf Official tells me Saudi Arabia submitted amendments to the Omani-Iranian proposal regarding Hormuz because it had concerns that the proposed language could effectively establish a new status quo in the strait that would not be acceptable to it or the other GCC [i.e. the Gulf Cooperation Council] states,” Ravid wrote on X.

Meanwhile, Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi stated that a meeting of Gulf states scheduled for Monday to announce the agreements reached between Iran and Oman on navigation in the Strait of Hormuz has been postponed.

“In the interests of consensus the regional meeting set for tomorrow in Salalah has been postponed. We remain committed to fostering dialogue that supports stability and lasting cooperation in our region,” al-Busaidi wrote on Sunday on X.
