Political decision must be made to start servicing Margara checkpoint: Badasyan

The Margara checkpoint on the border with Turkey has long been ready to serve citizens of third countries and persons with diplomatic passports. This was stated by Rustam Badasyan, Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia, speaking with reporters after the government Cabinet session today.

To the question as to when this checkpoint will start operating, Badasyan noted that a political decision is needed for this.

"The customs office had to be built one way or another, and it was built. There was a preliminary agreement, we worked within it, we brought the [customs] point to a ready state, and when there is a political decision, we are ready to serve," he said.

As for the work being done at the customs checkpoint on the Turkish side, Badasyan said he has no information about it.

"Maybe their [check]point doesn't need additional work, or it does, I can't say," he said.
