Today Vladimir Vardanyan, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, spoke about the demolition of the dome of the Ghazanchetsots Church in Shushi by the Azerbaijanis at the session of the Parliament.

“This is done for a number of clear reasons: to eliminate any trace of Armenian identity in Azerbaijan, to emphasize once again the anti-Armenian attitude of Azerbaijan, to eliminate the dominant architectural structure that would always be in Shushi from all visible parts, to emphasize once again that Azerbaijan does not want to tolerate the presence of any ethnic Armenian in that region,” Vardanyan said.

He informed that a new crime was added to the draft of the new Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia among the international crimes, which refers to the destruction of the cultural values ​​of any group for national, racial, religious or other reasons.

“I plan to inform the leaders of the friendship groups and the world spiritual leaders about this. I urge everyone to fulfill this obligation,” Vardanyan said, adding that this is the same handwriting used in Turkey when Hagia Sophia was turned into a mosque.
