Reuters. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Wednesday (November 4) he expected US President Donald Trump to bypass Congress using executive orders following the historic victory of the rival Democratic Party in midterm elections.
"Trump has, for the past two years, largely governed without consulting Congress. Why should things be any different now?," Merz said in a panel discussion at an economic forum in Berlin.
Democrats swept to majorities in both the US Senate and House in midterm elections on Tuesday (November 3), setting the stage for political gridlock for the remainder of Republican President Trump's final term.
