Zartonk Media posted on Twitter that Fresh footage shows the Armenian Genocide Martyrs' Memorial in Deir ez-Zor, Syria, which has been destroyed by ISIS members, informs the Armenian Catholicosate of Cilicia, publishing the video and photo of the church.
Consecrated in 1991, the memorial complex served as church, museum, monument, archive center and exhibition hall. Every year, on April 24, tens of thousands of Armenian pilgrims from all over the world visited the Deir ez-Zor church to commemorate the Genocide victims.
The Catholicosate cited Victor Hugo’s quote, which runs as follows, “Where you see destruction, death, robbery and violence, you know, the Turks passed there.”
According to verified information, the complex has been destroyed as a result of a number of explosions of bombs planted in its walls.
