First Armenian athletes perform in Rio 2016
Armenian athletes performed on the first day of the official opening ceremony of Rio 2016. In the category of 60 kgs, judoist Hovhannes Davtyan held a victory guaranteeing participation in 1/8 finals. However, Davtyan lost to Russian Beslan Mudranov and was withdrawn from further participation. The 20-year-old box fighter from Gyumri Arthur Hovhannisyan lost in the first bout against Spanish Samuel Armona Herrera.
Gymnasts Harutyun Merdinyan and Arthur Davtyan will start performance today.
