Ukrainian forces strike Rostov and Samara regions
A wave of Ukrainian drone and missile strikes targeted critical industrial and maritime infrastructure across southern Russia on Saturday, resulting in at least one fatality and multiple injuries.
According to regional authorities, the attacks successfully penetrated air defenses in the Rostov and Samara regions, striking a foreign-flagged commercial vessel in the Sea of Azov and sparking significant fires at major chemical production facilities.
Further offshore, a Ukrainian drone strike hit a dry cargo ship several kilometers from the coastline in the Sea of Azov. The attack sparked a fire aboard the vessel, raising fresh concerns regarding the safety of commercial shipping lanes in the region.
The casualties in the Rostov region include one individual killed and four others seriously injured, with medical officials describing three of the wounded, including one foreign national, as being in critical condition.
Targeting Taganrog and the Sea of Azov represents a direct threat to the regional logistics hubs that facilitate the export of Russian grain and industrial materials.
