Montevideo’s Constitution Square illuminated in Armenian flag colors
The event was attended by Vice President of Uruguay and President of the General Assembly and the Senate, Carolina Cosse; President of the Supreme Court, John Pérez Brignani; President of the National Postal Service, Gabriel Bonfrisco; members of the executive and legislative branches, accredited foreign ambassadors, public and political figures, journalists, and representatives of the Armenian community.
In her remarks, Ambassador Mariam Gevorgyan reflected on the significance of Armenia’s Independence Day, emphasizing that 34 years ago, the Armenian people fulfilled their dream of living freely and sovereignly.
Highlighting the excellent level of Armenian-Uruguayan relations and the enduring friendship between the two nations, the Ambassador underscored recent achievements in bilateral cooperation across various fields, as well as high-level reciprocal visits in recent years.
Ambassador Gevorgyan also touched upon the agreements reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan on August 8 in Washington, reaffirming Armenia’s commitment to the process of establishing lasting and sustainable peace in the region.
The event featured dance performances by the “Shiraz” and “Gayane” dance ensembles.
According to the Embassy’s statement, “At the initiative of the Armenian Embassy and with the authorization of the Montevideo Municipality, Constitution Square was illuminated in the colors of the Armenian flag during the event.”
