Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development of Colombia, President of COP16, Susana Muhamad, sent her congratulatory message and best wishes to the delegation of the Republic of Armenia and the head of the delegation, Deputy Minister of Environment Ara Mkrtchyan, on the occasion of winning the vote and hosting the next Conference of the Parties in Armenia.
In response, Ara Mkrtchyan thanked Mrs. Muhamad for her warm reception and for making volitional and fair decisions. The Deputy Minister invited the President of Cop16 to the Republic of Armenia.
Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in Colombia voted in favor of the next Conference of the Parties (COP), which will take place in 2026 in Armenia. The choice was between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Armenia won by secret ballot with 123 to 65 votes.
