Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ararat Mirzoyan said Iran is satisfied with Armenia’s transparency regarding the TRIPP project, its readiness to discuss all outstanding issues, and the economic opportunities the initiative could create.
Mirzoyan made the remarks during a question-and-answer session with the government in parliament, responding to a question from MP Arusyak Manavazyan about his recent visit to Iran and the Iranian side’s perception of TRIPP.
“Iran is satisfied with the complete transparency demonstrated by us throughout the entire process around TRIPP, our readiness to discuss all issues, as well as the economic opportunities that the operation of these same infrastructures will create for Iran,” Mirzoyan said.
The minister stressed that his assessment was based on the impressions and feedback he received during his visit. He said the speculation and heightened attention surrounding TRIPP presented by some media outlets and opposition circles do not correspond to reality.
According to Mirzoyan, questions were raised and answers provided during discussions with Iranian counterparts, while work on the project continues.
Addressing the broader agenda of his visit, Mirzoyan said he discussed the full range of bilateral relations with Iran’s leadership and counterparts, from political dialogue and the strategic nature of the relationship to economic and infrastructure issues. International and regional developments were also discussed.
On cargo and air transportation, Mirzoyan reaffirmed Armenia’s readiness to deepen relations with Iran, taking into account restrictions arising from international sanctions.
“We highly value and attach great importance to our relations with Iran, and we will not put them at risk,” the minister said.
He also said that the issue of congestion and accumulation of cargo at the Iranian customs zone is being intensively discussed with the relevant agencies. According to Mirzoyan, technical solutions are available, and he expects to see them implemented in the coming days.
