Abortion ban in Chile partially lifted

Cries of happiness in front of Chile’s Constitutional Court: after months of fighting, with 6 votes for and 4 against the abortion ban was partially lifted from Chile’s Constitution. According to the new law, abortion is permitted when the woman’s life is in danger, when the pregnancy is the result of sexual abuse or the fetus is not expected to survive. The leader of the fight against the most discussed and condemned laws of the Latin American catholic country is the president Michelle Bachelet. She made an claim to the Constitutional Court, which adopted a new law, calling it a “therapeutic abortion”. Chile is the last country in Latin America, where abortion ban was still in force.
