Turkish intellectuals demand fair and transparent parliamentary elections

Turkey prepares for the parliamentary elections on June 7. Five hundred and fifty deputies will be elected out of 20 registered parties.

Two hundred Turkish intellectuals signed an application named "Important Warning" where they demand from government to not allow the president Recep Tayyip Erdogan violate the public order and bypass laws. At the same time they demanded safe and peaceful process of the pre-election stage. The intellectuals criticized the illegal decision to lower the electoral threshold to 10 percent from which only the "Justice and Development" party led by Erdogan will benefit.
