The United States has warned several Gulf Arab countries to prepare for a possible short but intense military campaign against Iran following the November 3 congressional midterm elections, The Wall Street Journal reported on October 28, citing people briefed on the discussions.
The warnings, delivered through diplomatic and military channels, come as the United States and Israel prepare options for another round of strikes aimed at weakening Iran's military capabilities and pressuring Tehran to make concessions in negotiations.
According to the report, potential targets include Iranian energy infrastructure, nuclear facilities, and missile and drone capabilities.
The Pentagon is developing military options, but President Donald Trump has not made a decision to resume attacks.
The United States is also reinforcing its military presence in the Middle East and taking steps to protect regional allies against possible Iranian retaliation.
Gulf countries fear that renewed fighting could expose their energy facilities and other critical infrastructure to Iranian missile and drone attacks.
