Reuters. Fire and smoke rose from streets in Bilbao, Spain, on Monday night (October 26) as groups of people set cars and garbage containers ablaze.
National media reported at least 19 people have been detained by police following the unrest, including seven minors.
Speaking on national television on Tuesday (October 27), Basque Security Minister, Bingen Zupiria, said that 'organised Basque groups' were behind the disturbances. He said most of those detained do not have prior criminal records.
Further details of the disturbances and whether or not they constitute an organised movement is yet unknown.
On Saturday (October 24) 100 people were arrested in Barcelona in similar events after hooded demonstrators who participated in an anti-establishment rally looted shops and set fire to street furniture around the city's central Plaza de Catalunya.
