Russian forces launched one of their heaviest strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure last night: Zelensky

Russians have launched one of the largest attacks on Ukraine's energy sector, attacking over 15 critical energy facilities, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, RBC-Ukraine reports.

"Yesterday, the Russians carried out one of their largest attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector – more than 15 critical power generation and transmission facilities were targeted across different regions of Ukraine," Zelenskyy says.

According to him, the situation was most critical in Lutsk, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Shepetivka, Slavuta, and Netishyn.

Russia also struck the energy infrastructure in the Kharkiv, Kyiv, and Dnipro regions, as well as other regions.

From the evening of October 16 through the morning of October 17, Russia deployed over 320 rocket- and gasoline-powered Shaheds, as well as loitering munitions, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles.

"And although our warriors are shooting down a significant number of them, the sheer scale and unrelenting pace of Russia’s strikes, specifically against our energy sector, are unfortunately having severe consequences," the President notes.

At the same time, he reports that new support packages for Ukraine from European partners have already been prepared.

On the night of and morning of October 17, Russia attacked energy facilities in 10 regions of Ukraine. Some consumers were left without power.

Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin ordered his army to continue massive strikes against Ukraine.
