Armenia’s Ambassador to Washington hosted Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi

I was pleased to host my good friend, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi, in Washington, who gladly accepted my invitation to visit Armenia and take part as a speaker in a very important event, Armenia’s Ambassador to the United States Narek Mkrtchyan said.

“Over the course of his decades-long work, Kailash Satyarthi has helped free more than 120,000 children from forced labour, slavery, trafficking and other forms of exploitation.

Under his leadership, the Global March Against Child Labour covered 103 countries, becoming one of the largest international movements in the history of the fight for children’s rights. The initiative played an important role in the adoption of International Labour Organization Convention No. 182 on the elimination of the worst forms of child labour. It later became the first convention in UN history to be ratified by all member states of the organization.

We look forward to welcoming Kailash Satyarthi to Armenia,” he said
