On September 30, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security Vilen Gabrielyan, the Deputy Chair Vaghinak Vardanov, and the Committee member Anush Mirzoyan met with the UN Women Country Representative in Georgia and Liaison for the South Caucasus Kaori Ishikawa and the representatives of the UN Women in Georgia and Armenia.
During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the possible scope and directions of cooperation between the UN Women and the NA Standing Committee. In particular, they touched upon women's issues within the framework of Armenia’s Third National Action Plan on the Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on “Women, Peace and Security”, as well as further steps aimed at solving them.
Issues related to parliamentary oversight, exchange of experience in the areas under the jurisdiction of the committee, gender policy, as well as cooperation in a number of areas of common interest and its expansion were discussed.
