Zelenskiy discusses Black Sea trade and drone deal with Turkish President Erdogan

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday (23 September) according to a post on his X account. Zelenskiy said he thanked Erdogan for Turkey's "consistent" support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

According to the post, the two leaders also discussed security in the Black Sea, including how to ensure the operation of the maritime export corridor, set up in July 2022 to carry Ukrainian grain to world markets before its collapse in on 17 July 2023, following Russia's abandonment of the deal.

"What is needed is simply Russia’s readiness to stop its terrorist strikes on our infrastructure, so that Ukraine can reciprocally halt its long-range responses" the president wrote on X.

Zelenskiy also said he briefed Erdogan on his contacts with US officials across a number of issues including a proposed Drone Deal.

"I am grateful to Türkiye for its readiness to help advance peace" Zelenskiy concluded the post.
