Happy 35th anniversary of independence, Armenia: EU Mission in Armenia

The European Union Mission in Armenia (EUMA) congratulates all Armenian people on the Independence Day, EUMA stated on X. 

“Happy 35th anniversary, Armenia!” it added. 

Thirty-five years ago, on September 21, 1991, a referendum was held in Armenia on secession from the USSR, in which 94.39% of the 2,056,758 citizens eligible to participate said “yes” to independence. And on September 23, the then Supreme Council (parliament) of Armenia summed up the results of the referendum and declared Armenia an independent state.
