We are discussing topic of importing and selling electricity with Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran, and Turkey: Pashinyan

Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Armenia needs options for importing additional electricity, including from Azerbaijan, if necessary, given Armenia’s investments in the artificial intelligence sector.

“There are different electricity regimes, and sometimes countries have a surplus or demand. We are also discussing the issue of importing electricity with Georgia, Iran and Türkiye,” Pashinyan said at a press briefing.

The Prime Minister added that there is a project under which a converter station is being built on the border with Georgia with EU funding to facilitate the import and export of electricity.

His comments come days after the Armenian and Azerbaijani governments held a meeting to discuss electricity trade and the interconnection of energy infrastructure.
