Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday told journalists in Washington that he is ready to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin without preconditions, DPA reports.
After a summit with US President Donald Trump and European leaders, Zelensky said that Moscow's previous demand for a ceasefire had only triggered new conditions.
"We are ready for any type of format," Zelensky said, specifying this would have to be on a leaders level.
At the same time, he acknowledged that the demand for a ceasefire as a prerequisite for peace negotiations had been justified.
Zelensky later added on social media platform X that Trump "supported a meeting at the level of leaders. Such a meeting is necessary to resolve sensitive issues."
