Iran is not in direct contact with the new Syrian administration, Tasnim agency, referring to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, reports.
"Currently, there is no direct connection between Iran and the ruling forces in Syria," Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghai said at a press conference.
He explained that in the future the Iranian authorities will make decisions based on the actions of the new Syrian administration. Baghai reminded that Iran stands in favor of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria and emphasized that the Syrian people should decide their own fate.
The day before yesterday, the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, announced that there are no armed groups outside the borders of Iran that would submit to Tehran.
