The number of applications for Armenian citizenship has significantly increased in the past three years, according to Interior Minister Arpine Sargsyan.
“We have a growth in the applications for obtaining citizenship of the Republic of Armenia, which has tripled in the past three years, exceeding 20,000 annually. This is a rather positive indicator,” Sargsyan told lawmakers on Wednesday during the government’s report about last year’s execution of the 2021-2026 program.
The increasing number also led to the need for technological transformation, she said.
“Parallel to this we had the objective to understand how we could fully digitize the process,” she said, adding that the 2024-2025 package of amendments in the area has been adopted and it will enable authorities to accept applications digitally, ensure required inspections and organize the work more productively.
