During an interview on the CBS program "60 Minutes," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky did not say that the number of casualties among the Ukrainian military allegedly amounts to 100,000 fighters. This was reported to journalists by the press secretary of the Ukrainian president, Serhiy Nikiforov.
As Nikiforov noted, the head of state did not voice the figure of 100 thousand Ukrainian military losses during an interview for the American television channel CBS News. However, such data was voiced by the television channel in a behind-the-scenes report of the program "60 Minutes".
"Please note that the figure of 100 thousand is mentioned in the voiceover text of the story. This is not mentioned in the interview," Nikiforov noted.
The president's press secretary advised to read the original of Zelensky's interview.
As UNIAN reported, the CBS News website, in a note to an interview in which the Ukrainian president participated, stated that the number of Ukrainian soldiers killed was 100 thousand. In the article on the TV channel's website, the journalists did not indicate that this was the presenter's remark, which caused confusion. Zelensky only noted that Ukrainians are paying the highest possible price in this war - with their lives.
In early February, Zelensky, during an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan, reported the death of 45,100 Ukrainians in Russia's war against Ukraine.
