Washington reported that the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President's Special Envoy Steven Witkoff in St. Petersburg is viewed as another step towards a ceasefire and a final settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
At the same time, a White House Spokesperson noted that the US President is disappointed with the actions of Moscow and Kyiv.
Donald Trump also called on Russia to act on his Truth Social page, as too many people are being killed. He described the ongoing war in Ukraine as terrible and senseless.
