Today, the regular Cabinet meeting took place, chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Armenian Government press office reports.
The Government will allocate more than 525 million AMD through redistribution for the renovation of 1 building of 1 school, for the inspection of the technical condition, measurement and development of estimate documents necessary for the renovation of 82 schools, for the procurement of gas supply works for the gym building built in 1 school, as well as for the provision of authorial control funds for 21 schools under renovation.
The decision envisages allocating 168.8 million AMD for the renovation of the building intended for elementary grades of the Azatan secondary school in Shirak region. 310.5 million AMD are allocated for the acquisition of the service of inspection of the technical condition, measurement and development of estimate documents necessary for the renovation of 82 schools. 22.4 million AMD will be allocated for the purchase of oversight service for the renovation works underway in 21 schools. Within the framework of the program “Construction, reconstruction, overhaul of at least 500 kindergartens by 2026”, the decision also ensures the provision of property to 14 kindergartens in Lori region, the construction of which has been completed or will be completed in 2025 (21.8 million AMD). Construction works have already been completed in 10 of the kindergartens, and 4 are planned to be completed in the current year. Construction works have been carried out or are being carried out within the framework of subvention programs allocated for the development of the regions. The decision also allocates money for the gas supply of the gym building of Yerevan Primary School No. 33 (1.9 million AMD).
Referring to the schools under renovation, Nikol Pashinyan wondered if it was realistic that the work would be completed in 1 year. In response, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan noted that by the end of the year, about 80-100 renovated schools will be ready. “The 120 schools under renovation included in the list must be completed and renovated by the summer of 2026, so that in September it will be possible to organize a class process in these schools in a new environment.”
In this context, Nikol Pashinyan noted: “We want to find schools subject to major renovation, and it is a problem because in most schools, specialists at least recommend that in the medium term it is more correct to simply demolish this building and build a new one.”
The Prime Minister then presented the list of these schools.
