On April 1, Ambassador Makunts attended International Women of Courage Awards Ceremony at the U.S. Department of State.
Having been held since 2007, this annual tradition was established by Condoleezza Rice, former U.S. Secretary of State. The aim of the event is to acknowledge and honor women from around the world who have demonstrated exceptional courage, strength, and leadership — often at great personal risk and sacrifice. Throughout 19 years, more than 200 women in over 90 countries have been recognized with the IWOC Award.
The award ceremony was hosted by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, with a special guest, First Lady Melania Trump.
