Armenia's President Vahagn Khachaturyan received his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the Presidential Palace in Yerevan.
A wide range of issues related to the expansion and deepening of multi-sectoral cooperation between the two countries was discussed at the meeting. The parties emphasized the importance of more effective organization of cooperation both bilaterally and within the framework of the European Union, paying special attention to the deepening of relations in the economic, educational, cultural and scientific spheres.
The parties emphasized the importance of implementing joint programs in the energy sector with a view to forming new perspectives and strengthening partnership ties.
The Presidents expressed their willingness to continue joint efforts based on constructive dialogue, mutually beneficial initiatives and strong cooperation.
Upon the conclusion of the meeting, the parties signed agreements on the “Financial Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.”
An agreement was also signed on the “Implementation of a Cultural Year between the Cities of Yerevan and Leipzig,” which was signed by the Mayor of Yerevan Tigran Avinyan and the Mayor of Leipzig Burkhard Jun.
