On March 26, the Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Sargis Khandanyan met with the representatives from the Stockholm Centre for Eastern European Studies Hugo von Essen and Jakob Hedenskog.
Welcoming the guests, Sargis Khandanyan highlighted the Armenia-Sweden close cooperation. Speaking about the inter-parliamentary active relations, the Committee Chair highly appreciated the support of Sweden in the development of the capacities of our country’s parliament.
The representatives of the Centre noted that the aim of their visit is to get acquainted with the ongoing processes in the region. The guests, particularly, were interested in priorities of the foreign policy of Armenia, the RA-EU cooperation and the parliamentary activities.
Touching upon the Armenia-European Union enhancing interaction, Sargis Khandanyan underscored the importance of the launch of the dialogue on the visa liberalisation of the European Union. The Committee Chair also talked about the normalisation process of the relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to our country Patrik Svensson, attending the meeting, noted that Sweden welcomes the agreement reached on the peace treaty text between Armenia and Azerbaijan and encourages its quick signing.
