"I am pleased to be in Yerevan today at the invitation of my dear friend and colleague, Mr. Ararat Mirzoyan, to continue political consultations between the foreign ministries of our two countries," said Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi during a joint press conference with Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
"During our discussions, we reviewed the bilateral relations of the past year and exchanged views on the prospects for strengthening the friendship between our countries. We also agreed to arrange high-level reciprocal visits between delegations in the near future.
We exchanged views on developments in the South Caucasus and welcome the agreement on a Peace Treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. We encourage both countries to sign this final document as soon as possible. Iran supports the independence and territorial integrity of all countries in the region and firmly opposes any changes to international borders or geopolitical shifts—this is the consistent position of the Islamic Republic of Iran. I believe that all issues in the region should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy, without the use of force.
Iran welcomes the development of economic relations, with full respect for each country's laws and territorial integrity," Araghchi stated.
Armenia’s Foreign Ministry previously announced that the Peace Treaty is ready for signing, and that Armenia is prepared to begin consultations with Azerbaijan regarding the date and location of the signing.
