According to the President of the Georgian Football Federation, Levan Kobiashvili, the incident that occurred after the match with the Armenian national team could lead to sanctions from UEFA,
IPN reports.
As he writes on social media, such actions towards the visiting team’s supporters are unacceptable.
"Thank you to our loyal supporters who created an excellent atmosphere throughout the entire match at the Dinamo Arena. Your immense support was truly felt at the stadium and, as always, provided the team with great motivation, for which I want to express my gratitude once again.
However, I must emphasize the incident that occurred after the match when a small portion of the spectators entered the stadium, leading to an unpleasant situation both on the field and near the visiting team’s stand.
Such actions towards the visiting team's supporters are unacceptable. Due to this completely unacceptable act, we insulted not only the visiting team’s fans but also deprived our team of the opportunity to celebrate the victory with their loyal supporters.
Such actions harm football and tarnish our country’s international image. This incident could lead to sanctions from UEFA, which could damage our national team and the fans of Georgian football.
Thanks to the visiting team and their supporters, who created a friendly atmosphere both in Tbilisi and Yerevan. Also, special thanks to the President of the Armenian Football Federation and our colleagues for hosting us at the highest level. The close sporting ties between the two countries are also confirmed by the joint bid of Georgia and Armenia to host one of the most prestigious championships. I hope that both Georgia and Armenia will be hosts of the 2029 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Football unites us and creates success. A special thank you to every member of our national football team, the entire squad, and the coaching staff, who showed amazing dedication and a winning mentality in both play-off matches," Levan Kobiashvili wrote.
