On March 21, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan held a phone conversation with the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom David Lammy.
The interlocutors discussed regional issues.
In the context of the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the efforts made towards finalizing the agreement on the establishment of peace and interstate relations between the two countries and the proposal of Armenia to sign it based on the agreed text. Ararat Mirzoyan thanked David Lammy for the clear position expressed by the UK on concluding the agreement as soon as possible aimed at establishing peace in the region.
Regarding Azerbaijan's false accusations about ceasefire violations on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, Minister Mirzoyan referred to Armenia’s proposal to establish a joint mechanism for investigating ceasefire violations and/or related reports, to which Azerbaijan has not provided a positive response. Minister Mirzoyan emphasized that this proposal, along with other initiatives put forward by Armenia, particularly those aimed at unblocking communications, can serve as a solid foundation for building mutual trust and ensuring stability.
Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan and UK Secretary of State David Lammy exchanged views on issues of cooperation on international platforms. In particular, Minister Mirzoyan presented the preparatory work being carried out ahead of the COP17 conference in Armenia, emphasizing the importance of close cooperation with the UK in this direction.
