Armenia cannot abandon the agenda of enclaves in the negotiations with Azerbaijan, Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.
“We cannot abandon the agenda of enclave,” he said at a press conference.
“If I were to say that there is no agenda of enclave, that would be a ground for criminal liability in Armenia, because in the form of Artsvashen Armenia has sovereign territory which we cannot abandon,” Pashinyan said.
Armenia will speak about the topic regardless of Azerbaijan raising the topic of enclaves or not.
“We can’t not raise the matter. That topic will inadvertently be in the dimension of our discussions, and each of us will bring their arguments. If theoretically we were to want Azerbaijan to not have anything to do with this matter the price would be to abandon the issue. But who and how can abandon the matter? Who can raise the issue of any sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia? And when we do not raise that issue, they automatically bring it up, they put the topic of the enclave at the negotiating table.
No one can silence anyone at the negotiating table, and the negotiation is, on the contrary, for them to talk, to put arguments against each other," he said.
