Today, January 28, is the day of the Armenian Army’s establishment. The regular army of our state is now 33 years old.
On the occasion of Army Day, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, together with President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan, Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan, and Armenia’s top leadership, visited the Yerablur Military Pantheon to pay tribute to the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the independence of the homeland.
The Armed Forces Day of Armenia was established on January 6, 2001, by a law signed by the President of Armenia on "Public Holidays and Commemoration Days of the Republic of Armenia."
On November 20, 2002, an amendment was made to the Constitution of Armenia, declaring January 28 a non-working day.
Armenia’s Army Day is celebrated on January 28, as it was on this day in 1992 that the decision "On the Defense of the Republic of Armenia" was adopted.
