A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson referred to US President Donald Trump's statement at a briefing with reporters that Beijing can play a constructive role in resolving the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
Mao Ning stated that dialogue is the only viable way to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.
"We are glad to see that all parties are creating conditions for de-escalation. China will continue to support peaceful negotiations and is ready to maintain contact with the parties," the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.
When asked by a reporter whether Trump had discussed the issue with Xi Jinping, Mao Ning only repeated that Beijing is ready to maintain contact with all parties.
