Iran's Supreme Court has upheld the death sentence of Yasin Huseynzadeh, who was found guilty of the terrorist attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran, Iranian judicial spokesman Asghar Jahangir said at a press conference.
According to him, the sentence has been sent to the Tehran court for execution.
According to the information, the sentence will be carried out after the convicted person's parents come to meet him.
On the morning of January 27, 2023, an armed attack took place on the Azerbaijani Embassy to Iran. The attacker broke through the diplomatic mission's security post and killed the head of security with a Kalashnikov assault rifle. Two more embassy security officers were injured while repelling the attack. Following this incident, the diplomatic mission ceased its activities in Tehran.
The diplomatic mission resumed its activities in July last year at a new address. The decision was made following negotiations between official Baku and Tehran.
