On January 20, in Tehran, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan had a meeting with Majid Takht-Ravanchi, the Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Deputy Foreign Ministers of the two underlined the high level of cooperation between Armenia and Iran in different areas.
Touching upon the current political dialogue between the two countries, the importance of joint efforts towards continuously developing relations in an environment of respect and mutual trust was underscored. Both sides highlighted mutual respect for each other's foreign policy priorities.
Vahan Kostanyan reiterated that Armenia highly appreciates the principled position of Iran regarding the imperative to unconditionally respect the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia and the inviolability of its borders.
The counterparts exchanged views on the prospects for deepening economic cooperation between the two countries. Particular importance was drawn to the ongoing projects and outlined programs.
Vahan Kostanyan briefed his counterpart on the latest developments in the process of normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, stressing that Armenia is committed to the peace agenda and expects the same from Azerbaijan. In this context, the importance of steps aimed at increasing Armenia's resilience was highlighted. The interlocutors also exchanged views on the latest international and regional developments.
Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan was also received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Abbas Araghchi. Current political issues within the scope of interests of the two countries were discussed.
