Hungary and Serbia consider it their task to ensure the safety of the "TurkStream" gas pipeline, through which gas from Russia flows to Europe. This was stated by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who is in Belgrade for talks with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, the main topic of which was energy issues.
Orban noted that Hungary and Serbia consider it their task to ensure the safety of the "TurկStream" gas pipeline, through which gas reaches Europe from Russia. The head of government recalled that Ukraine stopped the transit of Russian gas from January 1 to the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and "TurkStream" remained the only gas pipeline that directly supplies this region with fuel from Russia.
"Our task now is to protect the pipeline that runs through Serbia to Hungary," Orban said in a video address broadcast on Hungarian television. Hungary receives gas via "Turkish Stream", whose branch continues through the territory of Bulgaria and Serbia.
